I hope you all went out strawberry picking at Gizdich last weekend. This weekend I urge you to treat yourself to some of the finer things and take a trip out to Wente Vineyards. Located in Livermore, CA this gem is just a 45 minutes drive from San Jose. Like I’ve said before, Brendan and I love to drive places so we don’t mind a good long trip in the car. Unlike our last trip we did not pack our lunch because the purpose of this day was to enjoy a couple glasses of fabulous wine and a spectacular lunch at the winery’s restaurant.

We were lucky enough to have the company of Brendan’s Mom, Sharon, who is a long term charter member at the winery. As a member all of your guests receive a free glass of wine or champagne with their meal. I chose the morning fog chardonay and it was absolutely delicious.
While glancing over the rest of the menu we snacked on a rye-wheat-sourdough bread with olive oil. The rest of the food pictured below is from this menu.
Marinated Olives
Salad of Beets
Grilled Delta Asparagus
Caesar Salad
Porchetta Sandwich
Rustic Potatoes
Of course, no good lunch would be complete without an equally delicious dessert. Here’s the dessert menu.
Their coffee was delicious. I could have taken mine completely black.
Beignets
Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta
After we induced food comas with their great food, we wandered around the vineyard’s beautiful landscapes and garden, and headed home. We’ll most certainly be back. They’re hosting a fantastic concert series over the summer including the one I’d love to see: Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers on Wednesday, August 29th
Happy Staycationing!
